The spirit of solidarity of the French is there in the face of the sudden exodus of Ukrainian refugees, who now number 36,000 in France. AT Saint-Omer, in the Pas-de-Calais, families, businesses and the football club have mobilized.

To come to the aid of Ukrainians who fled the war, an entire community mobilized in Saint Omer (Pas-de-Calais), thanks to word of mouth. Barns have been transformed into grocery stores or changing rooms. “We always have people arriving with donations: food, medicine, clothes“, explains the owner of the place and the coordinator of this chain of solidarity, who worked in Ukraine.

The president of the football club Saint Omer meanwhile, he improvised as a driver and went to fetch about thirty Ukrainians. Families only have a few backpacks for their luggage. At the farm, the 29 Ukrainian people, who have been there for 15 days, have quickly integrated. Saint Omer makes a figure example in the region, to such an extent that other municipalities plan to draw inspiration from it to in turn welcome refugees.
