Faithful to its repertoire, the string ensemble – made up of the founder, violinist Antoine Bareil, violist Frédéric Lambert and cellist Pierre-Alain Bouvrette – will present pieces from the 20e and 21e century.
The musicians have chosen to interpret the creations of composers from Eastern Europe, namely the Russian composer Alfred Schnittk, the Hungarians György Ligeti and György Kurtág, as well as the Polish Krzysztof Penderecki, artists who have marked the course of the Molinari in recent decades.
Founder and artistic director Olga Ranzenhofer said in an interview that while the Molinari Quartet has more than 300 works in its repertoire, its members have selected pieces that they like and “that represent them well. »
The ensemble has gained international recognition over the past decades by presenting concerts around the world, and has won 23 Opus Prizes from the Conseil québécois de la musique, which are given for the excellence and diversity of the concert music in Quebec.
