the missing hiker was…in her bed

Around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the services of 17 in Ardèche received a call from a 35-year-old woman: she had gone to pick up mushrooms on the plateau straddling the Ardèche, Haute-Loire and Lozère, and she is lost. A handful of gendarmes therefore begin research, cover an area of 4 kilometers in radius. They spend hours there, but they find nothing, not even the car of the hiker supposed to be in the town of Cheylard-l’Evêque in Lozère.

In the early morning, the Ardèche gendarmes alert their counterparts in neighboring departments to expand the search and a patrol is sent to her home, in Pradelles in Haute-Loire, to try to get more elements. And it turns out that the hiker is there…she explains that someone finally picked her up, that she recently got home, but her cell phone was dead and she didn’t did not have time to call the gendarmerie.
