Amid the tragedies related to the earthquake in Turkey, there have been a few miracles. A man swept away in the collapse of part of the hospital spent 11 days under the rubble. He was found in extremis.
Mustafa Avci thought he would never be able to hold his daughter in his arms. Indeed, she was born on February 6 in the morning, the day of the terrible earthquakes that shook Turkey. When the hospital in Antioch (Turkey) began to collapse, the father of the family had gone to have a coffee a few floors below. If the little girl escaped unscathed with her mother, the man found himself thrown to the ground and buried. He is now at risk of amputation.
Guided by his survival instinct
“For eleven days, I remained in the same position, one leg in the air. Basically, I didn’t even want to get out of it because I didn’t know what had become of my wife and my daughter.“, says the survivor. He holds on, guided by his instinct for survival. “Around there were plants. I chewed the roots and swallowed the juice. When I got really thirsty, I started drinking my urine“, recalls the miraculous. It was when the destruction devices arrived eleven days later that he was finally found in the rubble.
