At Mount Baker, Washington, a snowboarder who had fallen into a hole covered entirely in snow was miraculously saved by a skier. During his descent, the latter had noticed a surf that protruded from the surface of the snow.
It was to be a mountain outing like any other for Francis Zuber, skier. As he slaloms off-piste with his friends, between the fir trees, he then notices a snowboard barely sticking out of the snow. The man is knocked down, planted upside down in the snow. Francis Zuber rushes up: “Hold on, I’m coming”, he says to the victim. He begins to clear by hand, as quickly as possible, the two meters of snow that covers the snowboarder.
“I had to get him out of here”
Quickly, he manages to free an arm and then the face of the man so that he can breathe. The man got out of trouble. His savior says he did not hesitate for a moment when he understood the gravity of the situation. “(…) I didn’t know how long he had been there, I was aware that no one else would come so I had to get him out of here”, says Francis Zuber. The man will come out uninjured and will probably never forget the hero who saved his life.
