Mbyo is a unique village: only victims of the genocide live here alongside the direct murderers of their own families. A crazy bet launched in Rwanda, the day after the genocide which left a million dead in three months. And it’s a success!
Forgive to rebuild
It illustrates the fierce desire of this country to turn the page. Laurence, for example, works every day with her neighbor across the street who is the murderer of her sister. Solange is married to Vedaste, the son of the murderer of part of her family. Every day, everyday life and the power of forgiveness erase the hatred of the past and contribute to the reconstruction of the country.
