The Ministry of the Interior sends a note to the police chiefs asking them “in context” to assess the risks incurred by parliamentarians, franceinfo learned on Wednesday October 18.

In this circular addressed to the prefects of police, to the prefects of defense and security zones, regions and departments (mainland and overseas) but also to the director general of the national police or even to the director of internal security, Gérald Darmanin asks for a “assessment of the risks incurred by parliamentarians in their constituencies, whether at their offices or their homes”. The aim is to determine “security measures to be implemented” if necessary.

This request from the Ministry of the Interior comes in a “international context and terrorist threat on the national territory”. For the ministry, parliamentarians are therefore “likely to be the subject of malicious acts or threats”.
