From now on, police officers and gendarmes will have 2h30 of initial training against LGBTphobia each year, compared to 1h30 to 2h today. These will be done face-to-face while they have been done remotely so far. The number of LGBT referents will also be increased in police stations and gendarmerie brigades, like what is done for “domestic violence” referents. Eventually, one will be needed in each police station and brigade.
The Ministry of the Interior also intends to draw inspiration from what has been done in Lyon by instructing prefects to map LGBTphobic attacks in around thirty cities this year to better target the needs of law enforcement patrols. .
