The number of family doctor positions available in Quebec announced this year is increasing again, from 449 in 2024 to 458 in 2025.
This Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, unveiled in a press release the new plans for the year 2025 which aim to distribute “geographically and equitably” the medical workforce in family medicine in all regions of Quebec.
In order to provide “more flexibility” to regional general medicine departments, regional medical staffing plans (PREM) will now be spread over two years rather than one, the minister also announced.
“We are adapting, for patients and staff. It is the right thing to do. In order to go even further, we will continue the work and reflection on a possible moratorium on PREMs in family medicine,” stressed Mr. Dubé.
Further details will follow.
