Gérald Darmanin will propose “to the President of the Republic the dissolution of the GUD”, the Union Defense Group, a far-right student union, he announced Wednesday June 19 on BFMTV. This proposal will take place “very soon”specified the Minister of the Interior, who described “a very friendly ultra-right group” with “the leaders of the National Rally”. “These are people who think there is white supremacy, who make extremely serious anti-Semitic remarks,” added the Minister of the Interior, specifying that he had been working on this file since “nine months”.
A week before this announcement, four ultra-right activists had been sentenced to sentences ranging from six months suspended to seven months in prison for their participation in a homophobic attack in Paris, while they “celebrated” the victory of the RN in the European elections. In police custody, these four young men had stated “paramilitary demands and affiliation with the GUD and the National Rally”according to the prosecution.
