“I do not believe” that there is a risk that a motion of rejection will be adopted on Monday December 11 on the immigration bill, said Sunday on France Inter and franceinfo TV the Minister of Labor, Olivier Dussopt. The examination of the immigration bill arrives Monday at 4 p.m. in the National Assembly, but before then there will be a vote on a preliminary rejection motion, brought by the environmentalists. If this motion is adopted, the text will be rejected even before its examination, which the minister considers to be a “refusal of debate”.
A vote on this motion would mean, according to the minister, “that MPs who demand more border control would vote for a rejection motion which instead calls for the removal of borders. It’s a bit like the alliance of the carp and the rabbit”, he is surprised. And to quote “a lot of deputies, I am thinking of the LR group in particular which, for months, even years, has been asking for discussions, debates, a law, initiatives”on the question of border control. “How could it be imaginable that the same people would say tomorrow ‘refusal of obstacles, we are not entering into the debate?“, adds Olivier Dussopt. “Come into the debate, make proposals, it’s the best way to be useful”opposes the minister.
The Republicans have not yet positioned themselves
The head of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, affirmed, earlier Sunday, that the deputies would decide “Monday of [leur] position”. “The adoption of a motion to reject would result in a new debate on the Senate text” during the continuation of the parliamentary shuttle, the “alone” Who “agrees” to LR, he added.
