The Minister of Higher Education and Research, Sylvie Retailleau, will bring together the presidents of establishments during a videoconference on Thursday, May 2, the franceinfo political service learned from the ministry, while several higher education establishments have experienced student movements in support of the Palestinian cause in recent days, particularly on several Sciences Po campuses and at the Sorbonne.

The objective, according to the ministry, is to “collectively remember that the university is a bastion of democracy and structured debate, that it is neutral and cannot be exploited”. The minister also wants “take stock of the strengthening of the fight against anti-Semitism, racism and discrimination”.

Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Student Union announced that the mobilization will continue on Thursday, May 2, in Sciences Po in France, with blockages planned in particular in the Institutes of Political Studies (IEP) of Saint-Etienne, Rennes, Strasbourg and Chin.
