“We have seen in recent hours from associations, collectives, sometimes from actors in our establishments, actions and comments of particular indecency.” In a letter made public Monday October 9, the Minister of Higher Education bangs her fist on the table. Sylvie Retailleau asks university presidents and directors of higher education establishments to “take all necessary measures” For “ensure compliance with the law and republican principles” facing “drifts”after the Hamas attacks on Israel.
“Advocating terrorism, inciting hatred, violence or discrimination are prohibited by law and must be punishedcontinues the minister. They do not constitute ideas but intolerable transgressions of our republican framework.”

Sylvie Retailleau therefore recalls that“it belongs” to heads of higher education establishments “to take all necessary measures to ensure compliance with the law and republican principles”, “to prevent any situation likely to cause a disturbance to public order” And “guarantee (…) study and working conditions in complete peace and security”. She “invites all breaches to be subject to appropriate disciplinary sanctions and legal action, including by reporting them to the Public Prosecutor in accordance with Article 40.”
The minister added that she had invited the president of the Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF) to meet her in the coming days. “to strengthen our action in the prevention and fight against anti-Semitic acts”.
