The toll is growing after the attack carried out by Hamas on Saturday against Israel. Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna announced Wednesday October 11 that an 11th Frenchman was identified among those killed. Questioned on franceinfo, she also reported at least 18 missing nationals, including children. Some are “maybe held hostage”adds the head of French diplomacy.

A little earlier on Wednesday, Elisabeth Borne declared that the assessment came “once again to get heavy” in the Middle East after the Hamas attack on Israel. The Prime Minister then mentioned ten French people dead and 18 missing. “We are in constant contact with families”she added, addressing “all [ses] thoughts to the French community in Israel, who live in anguish”.
The Prime Minister also confirmed the establishment of a special flight on Thursday to repatriate French people who were unable to return, adding that the government was working to “different options until regular flights resume”. She also called for “unity and national cohesion”affirming that the government will “proof of the greatest firmness” faced with possible spillovers onto French soil.
