Two days before the closing of the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair, the second largest agricultural fair in France, the minister of agriculture is visiting the aisles of the Capitol this Saturday, September 10. Marc Fesneau was eagerly awaited by professional agricultural organizations, and in particular the FDSEA, after the historic drought this summer, which has consequences for breeders in particular.
Better insure farmers against climatic hazards
The FDSEA of the Marne, which still has 500 breeders (mainly cattle, but also sheep and poultry) has already made it known that it is asking the State for recognition as an agricultural disaster in the department. Among the subjects of discussion with the Minister of Agriculture this Saturday also, simplification of the rules of the crop insurance system promised Friday by the President of the Republic during a trip to Loiret. Today, only 30% of farmers are insured for field crops.
The main agricultural union is also asking for a real orientation law to adapt crops to climate change and ensure the transmission of farms.
