The minimum wage will automatically increase on May 1 between 2.4% and 2.6% due to the high inflation recorded over the past four months, according to an estimate from the Ministry of Labor, contacted Thursday March 31 by AFP. The exact increase will be known on April 15 when INSEE publishes its final estimate of the price increase in March.
According to its provisional estimate published Thursday, the increase in the consumer price index (CPI) stood at 4.5% in March over one year. In addition to the rise in the price of petroleum products linked in particular to the war in Ukraine, INSEE has observed a marked increase in the price of manufactured products and food. The waltz of food labels is also fed by the price of fresh products, up 7.2% over one year (5.9% over one year the previous month).
