The Médecins du Monde office in central Gaza was “deliberately destroyed this week”announced Saturday February 10 on franceinfo Jean-François Corty, doctor and vice-president of the NGO.
The operational intervention capabilities are therefore now “almost zero”, deplores the doctor. He recalls that “aid is nevertheless massively present in Israel or Egypt”with medicines and “everything you need to provide care”but regrets not succeeding “to bring in this aid in a proportionate manner”.
“Things have not changed”
According to the vice-president of Médecins du Monde, since the International Court of Justice raised the risk of genocide of the Palestinians in January “things have not changed” at the level “the increase in aid reentry”.
Jean-François Corty also recalls the death of an emergency doctor from Médecins du Monde, killed two months ago in the bombing of his building in Gaza. The Israeli army is now preparing an offensive on Rafah, a town in the very south of the enclave where hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have taken refuge fleeing bombings and fighting.
