“The Mauve Hour” by Pierre Lapointe, an immersive work

“L’heure mauve” is a musical work by Pierre Lapointe but it is also the title of the museum work of Nicolas Party exhibited at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. But it’s no coincidence…

Indeed, each work by Nicolas Party has inspired Pierre Lapointe to reinterpreting a classic songin addition to inspiring a new composition.

The reinterpretations were chosen with the aim of making honor to masters of music, passing from Aznavour to Brel without forgetting Félix Leclerc and Gilles Vigneault. In the same way as his visual artist sidekick, Lapointe created this album with the desire to pay homage to classicism, by applying a timeless aesthetic, while keeping a contemporary and surreal touch.

The album is intended an immersive work just like the Nicolas Party exhibition. Tinted with melancholy, sumptuousness, colors, imposing and sometimes sharp. Mainly in French and supported by acoustic instrumentation, the album also contains 2 instrumental pieces and a cover in German.
