A marvelous landscaped park in the very center of Tarbes: the Massey garden. The botanist Placide Massey drew and composed it with great care in the 19th century. A quiet place to rest and spend some time discovering a rich collection of century-old trees and shrubs from all over the world, and species of exotic origin represent half of the plantations. Labeling makes it possible to know the species. We meet animals there: goat, guinea pig or dwarf rabbit. Mandarin ducks, peacocks. You can play boules lyonnaises or tennis there. Playgrounds are available for children and even a small train, a maze of shrubs. Animations, exhibitions or shows take place there.
In the Massey garden there is also a museum to visit with temporary exhibitions
The Massey Museum in the Garden is a museum of art and history. First, you will see a gallery dedicated to Fine Arts and a space retracing the history of the hussars. The Massey Museum is offering an exhibition this year entitled Evoking the Orient on Orientalism in the 19th century. It is then found in all the arts, from engraving to painting, from works of art to architecture, through literature and the performing arts. Sculptures are also to be seen on the lawns of the Massey garden. A bandstand near the small lake hosts concerts, plays and festivities throughout the year
