The rules are getting tougher. Children from 6 years old will be concerned by the wearing of the mask in a certain number of public places, from monday 3 january, according to a decree of Friday, December 31 published Saturday in the Official Journal. The wearing of the mask has so far concerned children from 11 years old. This new rule applies in particular in public transport, establishments open to the public, sports arenas, places of worship and outdoors when the wearing of a mask is required there by the prefect.
New rules. As announced by Jean Castex at the end of December, the decree published on Saturday in the Official Journal also provides for a ban until January 23 inclusive of the sale and consumption of food during train journeys within the metropolitan territory, the establishment of ‘a tonnage of 2,000 people in indoor sports establishments and 5,000 in open-air establishments, the ban on standing concerts or even arrangements for quarantining travelers.
School health protocol changed. In primary schools, as was already the case before the end-of-year holidays, if “a teacher is absent and while waiting for his replacement, the pupils cannot be divided into the other classes”, the Ministry of National Education announced on its website on Friday. In addition, meetings between parents and teachers are “strongly discouraged”, and it is recommended to “postpone school trips including activities in confined spaces” as well as school trips.
Optimistic wishes. Emmanuel Macron warned on Friday, during his vows for 2022, that “the coming weeks will be difficult” but that there was “real reasons to hope” thanks to the vaccine and that “2022 would perhaps be the year of the end of the epidemic”.
