Mary and Roman, they met at work, when they worked in the same “environmental design office” in Deux-Sévrien. These two soul mates, born a week apart some thirty years ago, have not left each other since. And they changed their lives together. Indeed, this Melloise and this Breton felt a bit cramped in their tertiary jobs. They wanted to live + outside, to stop taking the car to go to work and above all to get involved in something more lively.

5 years ago, since “the change was now”, they passed a Professional Certificate “Agricultural Company Manager” in Melle. With their diplomas in hand, they spent a year as employees at La Ferme de la Martinière, a 40-hectare farm held until 2019 by goat breeders, Lucette and Jean, who were just looking to hand over!

Bingo! the two couples agree on everything, especially on the desire to keep running the farm in organic farming. And it is therefore quite natural that Marie and Romain took over the operation in 2019 and went from whole days in front of the computer to whole days with a herd of 220 goats. Which allow them to produce milk and cheese.

And nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed at the Ferme de la Martinière.

The whey from the cheese dairy, the one that results from the draining of the cheeses, generally considered as waste and discarded in the pits, constitutes a perfect base for the feeding of the 8 pigs that Marie and Romain raise each year. Thanks to the proteins, vitamins and mineral salts it contains, it gives very tender and very tasty meat.
