The “Marseille Angry!” association advocates a “Marshall plan” rather than “a communication plan”, one month after the “XXL clean space” operation

The association doubts the effectiveness of these anti-drug operations in Marseille while the government announced on Wednesday four tonnes of drugs and 20 million euros seized since the start of its operations throughout the territory.

One month later, the “XXL net space” operations in Marseille made it possible to “move” certain deal points but not to “eradicate”, estimates Thursday April 18 on franceinfo Kaouther Ben Mohamed, president of the “Marseille enanger!” association. These anti-drug operations were launched with great fanfare in the Marseille city, with the surprise visit of Emmanuel Macron on March 19.

“We will not be able to eradicate international trafficking with a communication plan”tackled the president of the association, emphasizing that“there is no eradication of deal points” in the Phocaean city. “The police forces mobilized at these deal points cannot be multiplied“, she emphasizes.

The Minister of Justice Éric Dupond-Moretti specified on Wednesday that in Marseille, the operations resulted in 461 police custody, 300 referrals and 49 “nuts”, either pre-trial detention or other measures restricting freedom. For Kaouther Ben Mohamed, who doubts the effectiveness of these operations, “the time for political communication is not the time for justice”. “Does the justice system have the means to imprison young people?”she snaps.

Act globally

“I advocate a 30-year Marshall Plan which brings together much more than the Ministries of Justice, the Interior and Health. We need the Ministry of Schools, that of Sport, that of Culture, that of Housing around the table , from the budget”she explains. “We cannot fight against trafficking if at the same time we do not have the Minister of Health who presents a plan to support dependent people”, she adds. According to the president of the “Marseille en Anger!” association, the fight against drug banditry must be “global, national and international”.
