Marseille must move forward. In addition to their elimination in the Coupe de France by Rennes last weekend, the Marseillais remain in two consecutive draws in Ligue 1 against Strasbourg and Montpellier. When it comes time to host AS Monaco, Saturday January 27 at the Vélodrome, they are therefore obliged to bounce back. In the event of defeat, OM would be relegated to eight points behind the Monegasques, and therefore off the podium targeted by the Phocaeans.

For its part, AS Monaco qualified for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France, but remains with a setback at home in Ligue 1, against Stade de Reims. Fourth in the standings, one point behind Brest (which faces PSG on Sunday evening), Monaco intends to get back on the championship podium this weekend. This is good: the Monegasques have not lost at the Vélodrome in Ligue 1 since December 2020.
