The lagoon of Mayotte, in the north of the island, is home to 2,300 living species over 1,100 km².

The marine natural park is one of the most beautiful attractions of Mayotte. With its 1,100 km², the lagoon is home to 2,300 living species. In the north of the island, it didn’t take long to discover some members of this vast family. Very curious and sociable, spinner dolphins are year-round residents.

For its part, the humpback whale is cautious and keeps its distance. She is the most majestic mammal in the lagoon. Often part of the Antarctic, the one that is eagerly awaited comes to our calm waters to give birth or reproduce. Boats cannot approach within 100 meters of a humpback whale. The lagoon is a jewel of biodiversity. Its preservation is intimately linked to the green lung of the island. Between land and sea, the 500 hectares of mangroves protect both.
