The end of life is not a subject that we discuss with family or with loved ones. And yet, it is essential to provide the best support, prepare and above all not suffer the situation. In Bordeaux Caudéran, the Marie Galène health center works in this sector on a daily basis. Around two poles, the teams work to support the elderly recovering and promote their re-empowerment when returning home. But Les Dames du Calvaire has also been a commitment since 1906 in the field of palliative care.
Breathe life to the end of life
The entire team of professionals of the establishment and the volunteers are present alongside the patients and their families to soften this daily life which is not always easy to live with, emotionally, but also physically. Thanks to their skills and their imagination, they are reinventing the methods of support during difficult periods. Among their proposals, they launched two months ago an oyster bar every two weeks for patients and their loved ones. Also on the program: music, visiting dogs, aromatherapy, relaxation …
Many projects since always
At the end of the year, the Marie Galène health center saw the conclusion of a year of work for its paliative care unit. This brand new, brand new unit will be unveiled on January 21. The teams are also working on their participation and the organization of a major congress around paliative care from June 15 to 17, 2022. On the other hand, they also aim to launch a respite structure to be deployed to help caregivers.
