the Manche Prefecture calls for vigilance in the face of the increase in contamination

_”The virus is actively circulating in the Channel, let’s remain vigilant”: here is the message from the Prefecture in a press release, this Saturday, March 26. Since mid-March, restrictions have been eased in France, but the number of contaminations is currently on the rise. In the department, the incidence rate was 1,463 cases per 100,000 inhabitants on Thursday March 24. This represents a 28% increase in one week. Across all of Normandy, the rate was 1,230 cases.

The number of hospitalizations remains stable

As at the national level, however, the number of hospitalizations remains stable. On March 21, 298 patients were hospitalized in the Manche, including 11 people in intensive care. “Thanks to the effectiveness of vaccination in reducing serious forms in vaccinated people and to the very good vaccination coverage in the department, the rate of growth in hospitalizations remains much lower”specifies the Prefecture.

The Prefect recalls that wearing a mask is still recommended in closed places and in large gatherings for fragile people, because of their age or their pathologies. The vaccination pass is still compulsory in hospitals, but also in retirement homes.
