The management of Sciences Po Lyon asked the students occupying the school’s amphitheater on Thursday May 2 to leave the premises or risk calling the police, reports the Radio France journalist present on site.

Since 10 a.m. this Thursday, around a hundred students have occupied an amphitheater at the Institute of Political Studies (IEP) in Lyon, mobilized for Gaza. Among them are students from the IEP, but also from the universities of Lyon 1, Lyon, 2, Lyon 3, and the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS). Many wear the Palestinian keffiyeh.

The students decided Thursday afternoon in a general assembly to maintain this occupation for the night, for an indefinite period. They submitted their decision to the management of Sciences Po. According to the students, the management asked them to leave the premises, citing the absence of a security post in the school. If they do not leave, management will call the police so as not to be subject to criminal prosecution.

According to a student interviewed by Radio France, “the purpose of the operation” tenure at Sciences Po “is to resist a little to draw attention to their action in support of Palestine”. The students expect to be evicted in the evening.
