The management of the Blanche de Fontarce medico-social establishment responds to its angry employees. Last Wednesday about twenty of them walked out to the call of the CGT to denounce the degradation of their working conditions linked according to them to a lack of means and the inaction of their management.
Charges to which the supervisory authority, the departmental council, wished to respond in particular through the voice of its first vice-president, also president of the Blanche-de-Fontarce establishment: Frédérique Mériaudeau. The latter, in the company of the acting director of the establishment, Évelyne Poupet, wished to recall that – while hearing the legitimate anger according to her of employees exhausted by difficult conditions aggravated by the pandemic over the past two years – the management n didn’t sit idly by. That many projects have been started since the arrival of Evelyne Poupet last August as well as the arrival of a director at the Social Pole and the return from maternity leave of the director of the medico-social pole, but that ‘we’ll have to arm ourselves with a little more patience to reap the benefits.
Fill positions in stable jobs
One of Blanche de Fontarce’s problems is the difficulty of recruiting and even more the difficulty of retain qualified employees. the turnover in these professions faced with difficult and demanding audiences is important. At the children’s home, for example, out of 34 positions, 36 departures (!) were recorded in 2021. Even if these departures are replaced, they are replaced by staff who, because of their lack of experience in the establishment, are necessarily a little less efficient. To remedy this, the director proposes several avenues for development. Starting with hiring by way of apprenticeship, the possibility for contract workers (who at the children’s home represent half of the staff) to obtain, if they wish, civil service status by accompanying them towards the competition. Accompanying motivated staff to qualifying training or immersion courses to make candidates understand the reality of the job.
Modernize establishments
The work tool is not neglected, establishment renovation projects are under study. In particular a restructuring of the Children’s Home. Estimated at 6 million euros, this project is not yet clearly defined (renovation, reconstruction, construction of new equipment?). But it is part, says Frédérique Mériaudeau, of the priorities of the departmental council which wishes to see it succeed before the end of the mandate of the current assembly. Work is also planned in the reception hall of the Espace Benjamin in Chaillac and in the dining room of the La Bussière de Pérassay hostel.
Revitalization of the rental housing stock
Finally, one of the assets of Blanche de Fontarce is to be able to ensure part of its financing by its real estate income from a park bequeathed at the same time as the castle of Touvent in 1920 by the De Fontarce family. These dwellings, sometimes left vacant, now have, with the exception of one, all tenants. Enough to generate 450,000 euros in annual revenue.
