Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne received Republican executives on the evening of Sunday, December 17, in Matignon. The majority and the right-wing party would be ready to make some concessions to reach an agreement on the immigration law.
Negotiations between the majority and the Republicans continue. For the third time, Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne received party leaders of right to try to reach an agreement on the immigration bill, rejected in first reading in the National Assembly. The president of the lower house, Yaël Braun-Pivet, assured on BFMTV that“there is a desire to agree“ between “the government, the presidential majority, and part of the oppositions“.
The decisive choice of the joint committee
On Monday, the 14 parliamentarians of the joint committee (CMP) will meet to try to reach a new version of the text. In case of failure, the project will be rejected.
