The DNCG has ruled on the future of Bordeaux and Sochaux. The latter did not take “no measurement” with regard to the Girondins, according to a press release published on Wednesday June 28. The latter will be able to continue to evolve in Ligue 2 next season. The solution found by the club to fill its operating deficit of 38 million euros excluding transfers has been validated by the French football policeman.

The Girondins presented themselves with a debt of less than 5 million euros to be settled by 2025 to their former shareholder Fortress and new guarantees on the financing of the 2023-2024 budget, indicates AFP. Good news after the disappointment of the day before, when the LFP disciplinary committee ended their hope of playing in Ligue 1 next season. The latter endorsed the defeat on the green carpet of Bordeaux against Rodez on the last day of L2, interrupted after the attack on Lucas Buades by a Bordeaux supporter.

Cold shower for Sochaux

For Sochaux, the epilogue delivered by the DNCG was not the one expected. In a press release, the body pronounced the “demotion to National 1” of the Sochaux club. Also threatened for budgetary reasons, the leaders montbéliardais have announced that they are appealing this decision, “in order to produce evidence of coverage by the Nenking group (club owner) of its projected deficit for the coming season.”

In its press release, the Sochaux club specifies that the Nenking group, the Chinese fund specializing in real estate, is meeting “cash flow difficulties” due to the crisis in the real estate market in China. For now, the outcome remains the same. Nenking “must imminently release the funds provided for this purpose, and pay them to its subsidiary.”
