Tuesday October 17, the alleged perpetrator of the attack which left two dead in Brussels was shot dead by the police. He claimed responsibility for his actions in a video.
On the morning of Tuesday October 17, it was a witness who saw the attacker in a café and called the police. Shortly after 8 a.m., in a street in Brussels (Belgium)the police opened fire and shot down Abdesalem L.. The 45-year-old man, of Tunisian origin, requested asylum in Belgium in 2019. Known to the Belgian police, he claimed responsibility for the attack in two videos, published before and after the attack. He said he was inspired by the Islamic State.
Two fans killed
In a video, we see him dressed in orange. He shoots two people before fleeing on a scooter. Witness to the scenea still shocked man says: “I saw this gentleman with his fluorescent orange outfit who came in. I heard gunshots. I remained frozen and traumatized.“ The two victims are Swedish tourists who came to watch the match between Belgium and Sweden. The match was stopped at half-time. The 25,000 supporters remained confined within the stadium. The terrorist alert level has risen to 4 in Brussels.
