The Association of Mayors of France, the Assembly of the Departments of France and Regions of France, united under the common banner of United Territories, decided during a meeting on Friday, September 2 in the morning not to participate in the launch of the National Council of the refoundation (CNR), learned franceinfo from the Assembly of the departments of France, confirming information from RTL.

“The framework of the CNR proposed to us does not seem appropriate to us for discussing the issues falling within the competences of our local authorities”explain François Sauvadet, president of Departments of France, Carole Delga, president of Regions of France, and David Lisnard, president of the Association of Mayors of France in a joint press release.

According to them, “local authorities are faced with major challenges that threaten the continuity of local public services and public investment”. “It is through a dedicated and direct dialogue between the representatives of the communities, the executive and the Parliament, that these questions which affect the daily life of the French and engage the future of the country must be addressed”they add.

“We want to deepen the dialogue already engaged with the government of Elisabeth Borne since her appointment”indicate François Sauvadet, Carole Delga and David Lisnard. “Without prejudging its usefulness, the configuration of this CNR meeting will not allow such work”, he insists. The CNR will be launched by Emmanuel Macron on September 8 in Marcoussis (Essonne). All the oppositions have already announced that they will not take part.
