The hearings lasted five weeks. The Paris Assize Court sentenced, Thursday April 4, Audrey Mondjehi, the main accused in the trial of the Strasbourg attack (Bas-Rhin), to 30 years in prison, with a two-thirds security period. The 42-year-old accused was found guilty of terrorist conspiracy, due to his “very close” with the assailant, and because he “had knowledge of [sa] violent radicalizationdeclared the president of the Paris Assize Court.

The four men who appeared were all accused of having played a role, direct or indirect, in the preparation of the attack on the Strasbourg Christmas market, which left five dead and 11 injured in December 2018, in particular in the supply of weapons to the terrorist. The perpetrator of the attack, Chérif Chekatt, was killed by the police two days after the incident. Among the other three accused, Christian Hoffmann was sentenced to five years in prison, including six months suspended, reports France 3 Grand Est. He will have to wear an electronic bracelet to serve his sentence, deducted from his years spent in pre-trial detention.

Frédéric Bodein, who transmitted the number of the supplier of the weapon to Audrey Mondjehi, was convicted of criminal conspiracy and received four years in prison, one of which was suspended. Knowing that he has already spent more than three years in pre-trial detention, he will not be incarcerated. His brother Stéphane Bodein was acquitted. Audrey Mondjehi, a 42-year-old Ivorian, “was not the one who pulled the trigger, but it was through his direct and voluntary fault that death was thrown into Strasbourg”had castigated one of the two representatives of the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office before the Paris Assize Court on Tuesday.
