The Orlando Magic hadn’t beaten the Toronto Raptors since February 2019, but that eight-game losing streak was snapped Friday night, with a 103-97 win by Jamahl Mosley’s men at Scotiabank Arena.
The Magic (16-48) may be the worst team in the Eastern Conference this season, but they didn’t look like it in this road game. Seven Florida players have amassed at least 10 points. Cole Anthony was the most productive with a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Circumstances are starting to catch up with the Raptors somewhat (34-29). Fred VanVleet missed a fourth game with knee problems and OG Anunoby is set to be sidelined for another two weeks with a broken finger.
It is also a grueling sequence for the representatives of the Queen City, who were playing a fourth duel in five evenings. Pascal Siakam did what he could under the circumstances by collecting 34 points and 14 rebounds. Malachi Flynn followed with 20 points.
In 20 minutes on the floor, Quebecer Chris Boucher collected nine rebounds and scored seven points. His compatriot from La Belle Province, Khem Birch, was used for nine minutes.
The Raptors will be on the road for their next six games, starting with a stop at the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday.
