First in their group at the end of the group stage, Olympique Lyonnais and PSG knew that they would not meet a European leader in the quarter-finals. The draw, carried out on Tuesday February 6 in Nyon (Switzerland), placed the Portuguese SL Benfica on the route of the Lyonnaises, and the Swedes of BK Häcken on that of the Parisiennes. The draw also determined the potential posters for the semi-finals, and if the two French clubs emerge victorious from their quarter-finals, they will compete for a ticket to the final in Bilbao (Spain).

Future opponent of Lyon, eight-time European champion, SL Benfica will participate for the first time in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, after coming out in second place in Group A of the group stage behind Barcelona, with two wins and three draws (including a 4-4 against Barcelona). The two teams have already met in the group stage in 2021-2022, for two large victories for the Lyonnaises, with a score of 5-0.

The Parisiennes also know their opponents. They have already faced the Gothenburg club in the play-offs for access to the Champions League in 2022, for two successes (2-1 and 2-0). The BK Häcken team finished second in group D, behind Chelsea but ahead of Paris FC, third and last French representative in the group stage.

The other quarter-finals will pit SK Brann against FC Barcelona, and Ajax Amsterdam against Chelsea. The first legs will be played on March 19 or 20, and the return matches on March 27 or 28.
