The duel will have been much tighter than in their two previous meetings this season but it was Olympique Lyonnais who took the advantage over Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the first leg of the Women’s Champions League on Sunday. April 24 (3-2). The Fenottes notably took advantage of Parisian errors to afford a precious victory at Groupama Stadium.

Outstripped by OL in the league, the Parisians are not making it easy for themselves in the Champions League. Despite the quick opener of the inevitable Marie-Antoinette Katoto in the 6th minute, Didier Ollé-Nicolle’s players paid for their mistakes, sanctioned by the Lyonnaises.

In goal, the Rouge et Bleu goalkeeper, Barbora Votikova was first guilty of a foul on Melvine Malard, causing a penalty converted by Wendie Renard, who was celebrating her 100th match in the Champions League.

The Fenottes then took advantage of the loss of ball and the spaces left in the Parisian defense to take the advantage, in front of their 22,000 supporters, through Catarina Macario. Shortly after returning from the locker room, the American took advantage of a disagreement between the Parisian door and her defense to push the ball behind the line and offer herself a double. In a balanced match, in which both teams created chances, the players from the capital managed to close the gap, on penalty, through Paulina Dudek.

The Lyonnaises are therefore on favorable ballot with a view to qualifying for the final, but nothing is done since the Parisiennes have still made them doubt at times. With a single goal behind, the Rouge et Bleu can still reverse the trend, especially since the second leg could be held in front of a possibly record crowd, with 22,000 tickets already sold at the Parc des Princes on Saturday.
