The lure of the vote | The duty

The government should legislate to block the rise in the prices of the hundred elementary products, basic products which the citizens need to ensure a minimum quality of life.

The tide of misery is now spreading in the cottages of employees of the middle underclass: that of small means. Not a day goes by without specialists in the economy, from a bank, from any institute coming to haunt us with a speech half fig, half grape, on the prevailing economic crisis.

Quebec has shown itself to be magnanimous and merciful with its $500 check delivered to a very large majority of Quebecers; but this current donation does not even represent the maintenance afloat for a week of hundreds of thousands of families forced to have permanent recourse to food banks throughout Quebec.

The elected Caquistes want voters to remember this generous gesture in favor of the people when the latter goes to the polls on October 3. In fact, $500 distributed all at once strikes voters’ minds more than a reduction in the cost of the grocery basket spread out between now and election day. A less glamorous way to help, but by far more helpful, for example, for a single mother of two teenagers with a voracious appetite, who pulls the devil by the tail.

Already assured of a victory without danger, is the CAQ government seeking to beat the record of absolute majority among successive Quebec governments, to date, by taking hostage those who suffer more? the invasive rise in inflation? If so, it is shameful and revolting.
