The Constitutional Council censored more than a third of the immigration bill on Thursday January 25. Pierre-Henri Dumont, Les Républicains (LR) deputy for Pas-de-Calais, affirms in 19/20 info that the decision of the Sages censors “the whole of Parliament”particularly in the face of the number of votes in favor of the text. “Emmanuel Macron himself said that it was a good law, (…) it was the parliamentarians who were censored. In reality, this evening, it is the French who are being cuckolded because it was a law that was overwhelmingly approved by French people”argues the elected official.
An “unbalanced” text
A significant part of the articles censored by the Sages had been added to the bill by LR. “The reality is that we have a text which is unbalanced and which will have extremely important repercussions for the future”, judge Pierre-Henri Dumont. According to MP LR, the Constitution must be changed in order to apply migration quotas, a measure rejected by the Council.
