The LPHF unveils its 10 individual trophies

The Professional Women’s Hockey League (LPHF) announced the creation of the Billie-Jean-King trophy, which will be presented to the most valuable player of the season, and the Ilana-Kloss trophy, which will be presented to the most valuable player playoffs.


LPHF leaders announced the news in a press release issued Thursday afternoon.

The two most prestigious individual trophies on the circuit were named in honor of the founding members of the LPHF’s original advisory council, who are pioneers and fervent defenders of women’s sport, namely Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss.

These are two of ten trophies that will be awarded annually to recognize achievements on and off the ice across the LPHF.

“It is absolutely fitting that our league’s Most Valuable Players are recognized with trophies that reflect the leadership of Billie Jean King and Ilana Kloss,” said LPHF Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford. , in the official press release.

“Having these trophies named in their honor highlights the sporting legacy of these pioneers who dedicated themselves to equal rights for women in sport,” she added.

In addition to these two awards, the LPHF will award trophies to the attacker of the year, the defender of the year, the goalkeeper of the year, the rookie of the year, the coach of the year, to the one who gave the most to her community, the one who amassed the most points, as well as the one who scored the most goals.

The players who have accumulated the most points and scored the most goals will automatically be known at the conclusion of the regular season.

The prize for the player who has given the most to her community will be determined by members of the LPHF executive.

All other winners will be chosen by a selection committee that will include members from various spheres, including members of the national and local media, former players, the LPHF Players’ Association (LPHFA) and team personnel.

Votes by the selection committee will be made at the conclusion of the regular season and before the start of the first playoff game.

The finalists will be revealed throughout the LPHF playoffs and the winners will be revealed in June.
