In large hangars in the heart of Rio, the samba schools have been preparing for more than seven months in the greatest secrecy. Each school spends about 250,000 euros per parade, this year they benefited from the help of the town hall and the regional government. The Rio carnival brought in more than 800 million euros to the city during its last edition, this year the authorities expect nearly half as much revenue.
