The LIOT group’s bill will be examined Thursday, June 8 in the National Assembly. This group, almost unknown before the fight against the pension reform, is giving the majority a hard time. What is its weight?

Little known to the general public, the LIOT group and its deputies have gained a lot of notoriety with their fight against pension reform. Bertrand Pancher, deputy of the Meuse since 2007, is at the head of the group. Passing through a high school in his constituency, in Commercy (Meuse), the subject was quickly broached.

In the street to demonstrate, in the Assembly to try to bring down the government, the LIOT group has become the receptacle of all opposition. Like this day in March when his motion of censure was voted by LFI, the RN and even part of the right.

A heterogeneous assembly of 21 deputies

Their spokesperson, Charles de Courson, with his seven mandates on the clock, is a monk-soldier of the Assembly. The LIOT group is a heterogeneous assembly of 21 deputies, from the left and the right, with some of them having strong roots in Corsica and overseas. They decided to come together primarily for practical matters, including “have the necessary speaking time”as stated by Jean-Louis Bricout, LIOT deputy for Aisne.

This small group, with a central role, annoys the majority. Once the fight for pensions is over, the challenge for these deputies will be to find other common fights, in order to continue to exist.
