Founded in 1994, the association the links of the heart experienced a revival and evolved in 2004, but it always remains focused on its primary objective: to support children suffering from heart disease. Doctors, patients, caregivers and parents… all come together in this association of which Jean-Benoît Thamsbo, professor of pediatric and congenital cardiology, is the president. The objective is to be a point of reference and support for these children who must be taken care of in specialized establishments, often far from home, and to allow parents to keep in touch with them to help them in their care in these expert services.
Maintain close ties
In the course of care, families are confronted with a major concern because there is no reception structure on the site of the Haut-Lévêque hospital in Pessac. Most of the time, the parents are housed on the Pellegrin site several kilometers from the place of hospitalization of their child. Thus, the association has set up a free shuttle system to accompany parents, even at particular times. The next Heart Links project is a major one since it consists of creating a family reception structure. This new house would help, support and offer well-being workshops so that hospitalization happens in the best possible way for parents and siblings.
Muscle your heart on May 18, 2022
In order to publicize its activities, the association les liens du cœur organizes a big day in the form of reunions. See you at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium on May 18, 2022. In the morning, Girondin middle school and schoolchildren will take part in sports workshops and take up challenges. In the afternoon, a charity football match with former players and celebrities is organized to raise funds. On the other hand, the Heart Links team is looking for volunteers.
