the links between the city and jazz

The first “Jazz à Juan”, created in homage to a famous Antibes by adoption who was none other than Sidney Bechet, was at the origin of many other festivals which spread throughout Europe.

From 1960, an anthology concert by Charles Mingus, then the start of the “Love Affair” between Ray Charles and the pine forest, revelation of Miles Davis in 1963, an anthology duet between Ella Fitzgerald and a cicada!

We take you to discover the history of jazz “in the streets of Antibes” with Renaud Dumenil, Historian Antibois.

We are also exploring the destination and the links between Juan Les Pins and the artists and musicians with Béatrice Di Vita de l’Antibes Tourist Office.

And of course we will welcome a group “Marching Band” to present this aspect of the festival and the “New Orleans” atmosphere all summer long in the streets of Antibes !
