The Libertad, one of the largest sailing ships in the world, calls at Saint-Malo

It’s a famous three-mast that has docked in Saint-Malo since yesterday. The Libertad, is 103 meters long and has 27 sails. This frigate is the training ship of the Argentine Navy. On board, a crew of 350 people including officers of the Argentine navy Training. During these two days at the quay in the corsair city, it was open to the public.

The ship has delighted tourists and locals who have visited it. “All those guys, it’s amazing. The size is impressive. It’s very nice to see“, enthuses Karine, a resident of Valenciennes, on vacation in Saint-Malo.” I imagine the conquests that the Malouins experienced several centuries ago “, says Hélène who came with her children. “He is really very handsome, the crew too !” says another tourist.

Note that Argentina and Saint-Malo have a special link. The Falkland Islands located to the east of Argentina were so named following the many visits of the Falklanders to this territory in the 18th century.

The boat can be visited until 3 p.m. this Wednesday before leaving to continue its world tour. Saint-Malo is one of the eleven European and American stopovers of the Argentinian frigate.
