The Disciplinary Committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) will examine the insulting songs of Nice supporters targeting the former Nantes striker Emiliano Sala, who died in a plane crash, she announced Thursday, May 12 at the AFP. The body was seized following the report of the delegate of the Ligue 1 match between Nice and Saint-Etienne (4-2), Wednesday, who noted the incident, as permitted by its regulations.

Supporters of the Riviera club hijacked a song from Nantes fans to the glory of their former striker, who died in 2019 at the age of 28 in a crash in the Channel, while he was traveling to Cardiff to finalize his transfer. This incident, which prompted numerous condemnations, including that of OGC Nice, came four days after the final of the Coupe de France lost by the Aiglons against the Canaries (1-0), on Saturday.

This season, the ultras from Nice have already been singled out, in August, after the match against Marseille, interrupted after scuffles which led some supporters to invade the lawn and attack opposing players.

After the incidents against OM, OGC Nice had been sanctioned with a withdrawal of two points (including one suspended) as well as a total closed session of its stadium for three games. His meeting against OM had also been given to replay, behind closed doors, on neutral ground. The next meeting of the Disciplinary Committee is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18.
