Student mobilization in support of Palestine continues at Sciences Po Paris. The candidate La France insoumise (LFI) in the European elections, Rima Hassan, will go to the Parisian Grande Ecole on the afternoon of Friday April 26. She announced it on the social network X, in a post with a video showing students chanting “Rima, Rima, Sciences Po is with you” in front of the establishment.
Students spent the night from Thursday to Friday in the historic school building and began to block its main entrance, located on rue Saint-Guillaume. Around ten tents were set up on Wednesday evening in the courtyard of another building in the establishment, before the police came to dislodge the activists and sympathizers of the Palestinian cause.
Massive mobilization in American universities
The Palestine committee of Sciences Po calls in particular “Sciences Po’s clear condemnation of Israel’s actions” And “the end of collaborations” with all “institutions or entities” judged to be accomplices “the systemic oppression of the Palestinian people”. He further requests the cessation of “the repression of pro-Palestinian voices on campus”.
The mobilization comes as several American universities are caught in the turmoil caused by the conflict in Gaza. Hundreds of people have been arrested in recent days at Columbia, New York University and Yale.
