The left-wing party pledges to invest more than a billion dollars a year in care for seniors.

A caregiver could earn up to $15,000 for their services if Québec solidaire (QS) were brought to power. The left-wing party pledged on Friday to invest more than $1 billion a year in elder care.

In its plan, presented in Gaspé, QS promises to create an allowance for caregivers “which will be added to the only current tax credit”. This would cost the Quebec government $380 million annually.

A caregiver under a solidarity government would have the possibility of receiving a “salary” of no more than $15,000.

The remaining 750 million should make it possible to “double” the supply of home services. However, the training does not advance on the ways to proceed.

QS is committed to completing the construction of seniors’ homes already started and budgeted for. The rest would fall by the wayside.

Further details will follow.
