The Nupes no longer exists, but they still see each other. Environmentalist, socialist, rebellious and communist deputies met on Monday, December 4 in Paris to show their union against the immigration bill. The socialist Boris Vallaud, the communist Elsa Faucillon, the rebellious Andy Kerbrat and the ecologist Cyrielle Chatelain came together to “a fraternity evening“, at the call of the Generations party and its deputy Benjamin Lucas, a few days before the examination of the bill in the hemicycle, next Monday.

Evoking “the greatest political and moral battle of the century” in front of “an atmospheric racism”Benjamin Lucas assured in front of some 300 people that “tonight the humanists, the left and the ecologists raise their heads”. After the examination of the text in the law committee last week, the observation is bitter. “We spent a week hearing despicable, xenophobic comments”, denounced Elsa Faucillon from the podium. “We will have to fight together, against racism and capitalism.”recognized Andy Kerbrat, rebellious leader on the text.

However, this meeting should not be seen as a return of the left-wing alliance, which collapsed after the refusal of rebellious leader Jean-Luc Melenchon to qualify Hamas as terrorist. “Whether Nupes is dead or not dead is not the question, the question is: Will we live up to our values? We will not give up anything, and yes, we will remain united,” said Cyrielle Châtelain to applause.
