Following the appointment of Michel Barnier to Matignon, several left-wing parties called for demonstrations against the head of state’s “coup de force” on Saturday, September 7.

They denounce A “coup” from the President of the Republic. Two months after the legislative elections, thousands of demonstrators marched in Paris on Saturday, September 7, to denounce the choice of the new Prime Minister. With their camp coming out on top, voters from the New Popular Front (NFP) already saw the left at Matignon. The call to demonstrate had been launched by high school organizations, the Insoumis took it up. Their response to the president is through the streets.

Within the NFP, only the Socialist Party did not call for a demonstration. In Paris, the Insoumis claim 160,000 participants, 26,000 according to the police. A higher mobilization than expected. Everywhere in France, the demonstrators report the same incomprehension, a “denial of democracy” we hear in the streets of Saint-Lô (Manche) where there were a hundred of them in the morning. LFI warns: new mobilizations could be organized.
