Usually referred to for disturbances inside stadiums or in their immediate surroundings, where the host club is responsible for security, the disciplinary committee of the Professional Football League (LFP) will not sanction Olympique de Marseille, she announced on Wednesday, November 8, for the stone-throwing of the Olympique Lyonnais bus and those of its supporters, which occurred several hundred meters from the Vélodrome stadium, on October 29.

“After having read the elements of the file and proceeded to the hearing of the two clubs“, the disciplinary committee of the LFP “notes that the incidents which occurred on public roads are not likely to give rise to the liability of the organizing club”wrote the body in a press release. “Consequently, the Commission will not take disciplinary action on these incidents”added the League.

The location of the match postponement is still not defined

Fabio Grosso, the OL coach injured in the left eye by shards of glass during this stone attack, had called for “important decisions” after these incidents. On the criminal side, the public prosecutor of Marseille opened three investigations, notably for “willful violence in a meeting with premeditation“, and nine individuals were arrested after the events. Concerning the racist chants and gestures observed in the visitor’s park by Lyon fans on the same evening, the LFP disciplinary committee has already taken up the matter and will report its decision on November 22.

The match, which could not have been played on October 29, was postponed to December 6, but the location of the meeting has not yet been determined and OM is therefore not certain of hosting Lyon at the stadium. Velodrome.
